Earlier this year, Mark Tallman, with the Kansas Association of School Boards (KASB), visited Riverside to interview district leadership team members and learn more about the Riverside school system. After more than 30 years of lobbying for the Kansas Association of School Boards (KASB), Mark Tallman recently shifted his role to research and writing on educational issues, with a focus on sharing success stories and best practices.
Mr. Tallman developed a system to identify school districts that do substantially better than expected on educational outcomes based on their percentage of low-income students and students with disabilities within enrollment groups. Based on this system, USD 114 Riverside was identified for its positive results in state assessments from 2017-2022. His article was recently shared on the KASB website and other communication platforms.
