Riverside High School will celebrate basketball homecoming on Friday, February 7, when they host the Jefferson County North Chargers. Coronation will be at approximately 6:30, following the JV boys’ basketball game.
Queen candidates are Kelbie Brendle, Molly Miller, Alexis Scott and Trinleigh Smith. King candidates are Dylan Brooke, Kaleb Catron, Darrion Hernandez, and Rylan Smith.
Kelbie Brendle is the daughter of Shana Holcomb and Jeff Brendle. She has been involved in volleyball for one year and cheerleading for two years. Kelbie has been an active member of SAFE/SADD for three years, served on the yearbook staff for three years, and has worked at Cyclone Studios for three years. She has been part of the Cyclone Choir for three years and the Women’s Choir for two years, receiving a top rating at state choir. Kelbie has also served as a Student Council representative for two years and is currently the Student Council president. Additionally, she has been a member of NHS for two years, currently serving as vice president. She has maintained honor roll status for four years. Kelbie has volunteered at Second Harvest, Vacation Bible School, and helped with clean-up at Elwood Park. In her free time, she enjoys watching TikTok, shopping, spending time with her boyfriend, and attending youth group and church activities to deepen her faith. After high school, Kelbie plans to attend Missouri Western to pursue a BSN with a minor in music. After college, she hopes to work as a labor and delivery nurse at Mosaic.
Molly Miller is the daughter of Christi Vieth and Barney Miller. Molly has served as a basketball manager for four years and a volleyball manager for one year. She has been an active member of SAFE/SADD for three years, participated in Cyclone Choir for three years, and been involved in Student Council for three years. She has served as class president for four years and participated in the Empower U Leadership program. Molly has earned a spot on the superintendent’s honor roll for four years and was recognized as one of the Top 5 students in her class. She has volunteered at Second Harvest and enjoys spending time with her family especially her sisters, as well as cherishing moments with her dog. Molly works as a CNA at The Willow. After high school, she plans to attend Northwest Missouri State University to major in Sonography.
Alexis Scott is the daughter of Rebecca Ivey and Wade Scott. Alexis has been involved in softball for two years, Student Council for one year, and FFA for one year. She has been a member of choir for four years and worked at Cyclone Studios for one year. Alexis has earned a place on the superintendent’s honor roll and was recognized for her exceptional attendance. She has volunteered at Second Harvest and enjoys coloring, hanging out with her boyfriend, shopping, listening to music, going on drives, and watching Netflix. After high school, Alexis plans to attend cosmetology school.
Trinleigh Smith is the daughter of PJ Smith and the late Jamie Miller Smith. Trinleigh has served as a basketball manager for four years and was a member of the dance team for one year. She has been a member of SAFE/SADD for three years, served on the yearbook staff for two years, and worked at Cyclone Studios for three years. Trinleigh has participated in choir for four years and Student Council for two years, currently serving as Student Council vice president. She participated in the Empower U Leadership program and has earned a spot on the superintendent’s honor roll for four years, as well as being recognized as one of the Top 5 students in her class. Trinleigh has been a member of NHS for three years and is currently serving as president. She has volunteered at Second Harvest and enjoys spending time with friends and her boyfriend, as well as going on drives. Trinleigh works as a CNA at The Willow. After high school, she plans to attend Northwest Missouri State University, though she is still undecided on her major.
Dylan Brooke is the son of Charity Lawson and Brandon Brooke. He has been a member of the track team for three years and is also part of the cheer squad. Dylan has participated in drama for three years and has been a member of the choir for three years, He was selected to participate in the NEK District Choir this year. An honor roll student, Dylan has also received the Cyclone Pride award. He has volunteered at Second Harvest. In his free time, Dylan enjoys hanging out with friends, longboarding, playing video games, watching anime, and singing in the shower. After high school, he plans to attend Missouri Western State University and pursue a degree in vocal music education.
Kaleb Catron is the son of Crystal Catron. He has been actively involved in both football and basketball for four years. An honor roll student, Kaleb was recognized as one of the Top 5 students in his class. He has volunteered at football spaghetti dinners and participated in various activities with Student Council and the National Honor Society. In his free time, Kaleb enjoys playing sports, spending time with family and friends, playing video games, and watching movies.
Darrion Hernandez is the son of Amanda and Miguel Hernandez. He has been active in both football and basketball for three years each. Darrion earned recognition for having perfect attendance for four years at summer weight training. He has also volunteered at football spaghetti dinners and home track meets. In his free time, Darrion enjoys going to the gym and working. After high school, he plans to attend barber school.
Rylan Smith is the son of Jessica Marie. He has played football for four years and has also been involved in FFA for four years. Rylan is a volunteer firefighter and in his free time, he likes to hunt and fish. He is currently enrolled in the welding program at Highland Technical Center, and after high school, he plans to work at Herzog.
Flower girl is Claire Hewins, daughter of Christina and Christopher Hewins.
Crown bearer is Maverick Hontz, son of Shaina and Brett Hontz.
