Riverside USD 114

Overall, it was a great performance from the team, as Morgan Lake (135), Jaylen Wilson (145), Makyala Cera (170), and Passion Farmer (190) all came within one match of qualifying. Their efforts helped the team finish in the top half of a stacked regional tournament with over 40 teams.

This past weekend, the Riverside boys' wrestling team sent six wrestlers to the regional tournament. After a long day of battling, two boys made their way to the state tournament: Micah Robidou (132) and Noah Wooley (285), who both placed 4th. These underclassmen are making their first appearances at the state tournament. Kyson Murphy and Dash Ruddock came close to qualifying but fell one win short. The six wrestlers finished in the top ten of a 25-team region, which features several top state teams, including ACCHS and Council Grove.

The four state qualifiers will head to Hays on Thursday morning to compete against the top wrestlers across the state in their weight classes on Friday and Saturday. Updates will be posted on the Riverside Cyclones Wrestling Facebook page and the Riverside USD 114 page. The tournament can also be followed on TrackWrestling.com.

• Thursday: I have not received an official time for when the practice facilities will open, but I plan to be on the road to Hays by 11:00 am.
