First Time Trip to Falls City Meet Equals Good Results for Riverside MS Track
Our middle school Cyclones took to Falls City, Nebraska for a five-team meet at a
phenomenal high school facility. Our athletes were impressed to see an eight-lane track
surrounding a colorful field turf football field encased within a decorative retaining wall. I
think this “small college feel” excited our kids, and their performances proved that. Many
members of the squad achieved personal records in their events, and some even got to try
different ones.
We were also restricted in the number of events each athlete could do as well as not
being able to bring all of our team with a few less events. Competition was tough within
two divisions of girls and boys with Hiawatha, Maryville, Falls City Sacred Heart, and Falls
City being in attendance. Our boys finished in second place just coming up short of
Hiawatha by 14.5 points. Our athlete’s results are below. We will be off to North Andrew
Thursday to compete against 15+ smaller Missouri districts.

Riverside MS Attends First Meet of Season At HCC
The Cyclones started off the track season with a windy, partly sunny afternoon in
Highland at the college track hosted by Doniphan West. The day was a competitive one with
squads from St. Peter and Paul, Wetmore, Kickapoo, Axtell, ACCMS, St. Benedict’s, and Troy.
Our team of 57 members were able to jump, throw, and run against someone other than
teammates and learned about where they are and what they need to work on to get better.
The coaches were satisfied with everyone’s efforts and look for them to continue their hard-
working effort. Our 7 th boy’s team of 21 took 2 nd place, and the 8 th grade squad of 16 tallied a
3 rd place finish. We will be heading to Falls City, Nebraska for the first time for our second
meet on Tuesday, April 4.

Riverside High School hosted their first and only home meet of the year this past Tuesday March 28. It was a better day weatherwise than we'd had so far and there were 8 teams in attendance (Bishop Leblond, ACCHS, Osborne, Maur Hill/Mount Academy, Kansas School for the Deaf, Osborn, Oskaloosa, Troy, and Riverside).
On the girls side, junior Sophie Juhl won the triple jump with a mark of 30'10 and took 2nd in the long jump. She also was part of team efforts to earn 2nd in the 4x100 (Baldwin, Cooper, Kirby, Juhl) and third in the 4x200 (Cooper, Karn, Kirby, Juhl). Sophomore Karmen Baldwin also earned first place in the 800 with a time of 2:40 and second place finishes in the high jump and 4x100. Bayleigh Cooper, Tysaun Kirby and Madison Karn rounded out the team performance with roles on the 4x1 and 4x2 relays and individual bests for Jaylen in the javelin, 100 and 200, long jump and triple jump for Bayleigh. The girls placed 5th overall as a team which is a great start for the young team.
The boys team also did very well placing 4th out of the 8 teams which is great for a very young team. Junior Dayshaun Jones placed 2nd in the high jump as well as sophomores Josh King (javelin, discus) and Landon Conard (1600, 800) earning 2nd place finishes in their events. Senior Jon Babineaux had 4th place efforts in the high jump and on the 4x100 team (Conard, Babineaux, King, Jones).
Both teams had several other great efforts and personal bests that are not mentioned above which contributed to a great first meet for both teams. This is a great start and we look forward to continued improvement from their hard work. We also would like to extend a huge thank you to all of those who volunteered to help out with the meet and make it another successful home track meet.

Riverside Anatomy and Physiology students had a great opportunity to learn outside of the classroom and obtain some clinical experience at the same time. The 5 students were invited to Hangar Prosthetics in St Joseph to spend half a day learning about everything from the research, development and fitting of orthotics and prosthetics to the disease processes that warrant most of their use. After lunch, the students and sponsor went to the museum complex with Glore Museum. This was a great opportunity to learn about the history of medicine as well as St Joseph and regional histories.
All in all in was a great day long experience and we are very thankful to the great people at Hangar Prosthetics for sharing their experience and working with us.
