Riverside High School Track and Field teams competed at the Nemaha Central dual meet Tuesday. It was a cold day for this unique meet that is actually 2 meets in one (features events and scores both JV and Varsity meets). There were several schools there which brought in some great competition and led to some strong performances by the Cyclones. On the girls side, there were 6 personal bests . Frehmen Karmen Baldwin ran 18.82 in the 100 high hurdles, Makayla Cera threw the discus a distance of 54'11, Tysaun Kirby bettered her 200 in 31.73 and Dee Noel threw the shot 25'7. Sophomore Sophie Juhl also improved her 200 to a time of 29.65 and the 4x1 team of Juhl, Kirby, Cooper and Baldwin ran a new best of 56.16. On the boys side there were 5 new bests set by Freshmen Cody Hewins in the 1600 (5:26), Dylan Brooke (Javelin 80'0 and Shot Put 23'11.5), Darrion Hernandez (200 26.98) and running one of the fastest 800's in Riverside history Landon Conard with a time of 2:11.27. Overall, in spite of not having very many good days this season, our athletes continue to improve going into League on May 12. Images: Tysaun Kirby and Bayleigh Cooper (second and fourth from left) compete in the 100m dash. Cody Hewins enters lap 3 in the 1600m.

Dr. Jordan Bauman has agreed to give our student-athletes their yearly physicals for the upcoming school year. With the numbers that we have, he is taking two of his off days to come in and do this for them. He will evaluate the boys on Thursday, May 5 and the girls on Thursday, May 12 beginning at noon. We will call them out as needed throughout the afternoon as long as they have properly filled out and returned their paperwork to Mr. Keller a day in advance. Physical forms will be sent home with the students a couple of days before so if you don't see any paperwork come home to you, please let us know or come to the Middle School office to fill it out. If you would like your primary physician to do the physical, keep the form and turn it in at your convenience.
