BOARD OF EDUCATION MEETING NOTICE OF CHANGE The regular scheduled meeting for Monday, April 11, 2022 has been rescheduled until Wednesday, April 13, 2022 at 6:00 p.m. and will be held at the District Board of Education Office, 1409 Vermont, Elwood, KS 66024.
The Riverside track team was able to host their second meet of the year also. Being the last one at home, the two senior athletes, Allison Schultz and Christopher Brooke, were honored before the running events were started. Although the sky opened up and the rain came, the runners kept going and the meet was completed. It was a Big 7 League Quad with Holton, Perry-Lecompton, Sabetha and Riverside.
The boys started off very well in the field events. Christopher Brooke took 3rd place in the pole vault with a new personal best of 9 feet 0 inches improving almost a foot higher. Josh King took 4th in the Javelin with a throw of 103’ 3”. Darrion Hernandez finished 5th in both the high jump (5’2”) and the long jump with a jump of 17’ 2’ a personal best for the season. They were able to keep it going on the track as well. The 4x100 meter relay team made up of Christopher Brooke, Landon Conard, Darrion Hernandez, and Josh King, set a new season best with 50.8 and 2nd place. Cody Hewins placed 3rd with a time of 5:34.92 in the 1600. And then Landon Conard also took a 3rd place with 57.67, a new PR, in the 400 meter dash. Dylan Brooke also threw the shot, javelin and discus setting a new personal record of 65’ 4” with the disc.
Sophie Juhl started the females off with a 1st place gold medal in the triple jump (30 feet 11.5 inches) and then captured 2nd place in long jump (14’ 5”) also. Karmen Baldwin ran well in the 800 meter run and earned a silver medal and also jumped a personal best of 4’ 6” in the high jump to earn a 3rd place bronze medal. Bayleigh Cooper was the other place winner with 4th in the long jump with a new personal best of 13’ 8.5” and 5th in the triple jump (30’ 1.25”). With it being a smaller meet Riverside had two 4x100 relay teams. The team of Sophie Juhl, Tysaun Kirby, Bayleigh Cooper, and Karmen Baldwin ran a season best 59.29 and the other team of Makayla Cera, Allison Schultz, De’Keytreon Noel, and Faith Orcutt followed closely with a 1:04.06. Makayla also threw a new personal best in shot with 17-5 and it was De’Keytreon’s first meet throwing shot, javelin, and discus. Allison long jumped a season best of 11’ 1’ and it was Faith’s first track meet running the 100 and 300 hurdles.
Coming up next for the Riverside track team, will be the ACCHS-Effingham Invitational on Tuesday, April 12th, 3:30 start time.

The RHS Athletic Banquet 2022 is Friday, May 6th, at the West Campus Gymnasium.
The dinner is at 6:00 pm followed by the Awards Banquet at 7:00 pm. Dinner will be provided by the RHS Booster Club to all student athletes (including managers), coaches and coaches' family who plan to attend. For all others who would like to attend the dinner, the cost is $10 per person. There is no cost and you DO NOT need to turn in a reservation form if you plan to attend the awards ceremony only.
The RMS Track Meet @ ACCJHS on Monday, April 4th begins at 3:30 p.m. Team will leave school at 1:45. Field events begin at 3:30. The 3200m run starts at 4:15. All other running starts at 5:00 with 7th girls, 8th girls, 7th boys, and 8th boys running order. Race order: 75 hurdles, 100m, 1600m, 4x100 relay, 400m, 4x200 relay, 800m, 200m, and 4x400 relay.

The RHS Softball games scheduled for tonight at ACCHS have been moved to Wathena. First game will start at 4:30 pm with the second one following after.
