Officers from the Doniphan County Sheriff’s Office and the Wathena Police Department visited Riverside Primary to inform and instruct students what to do in the event of an intruder following the ALICE method. We learned 3 steps to remember:
1. Get away
2. Scream
3. Run in a zig zag pattern
Students are also encouraged to learn their phone number and address in case of an emergency at school, at home, or even at the grocery store.
American Family Insurance agent Don Tolly visited Riverside Primary & Riverside Intermediate today to share “The Kindness Revolution” initiative. He shared some recent and local stories of kindness and encouraged us by saying, “Dude, be kind!”

Stuco is holding a Halloween Door Contest for 6th-8th grade SSR. The judging will be held October 29th. The prize will be a pizza party during 1st & 2nd lunch. Riverside High Drama Department is hosting a haunted house tomorrow night from 7-10pm at the west campus. Cost is $3 for students and $5 for adults. The drama department is also starting its annual Halloween Rubber Ducky fundraiser. Order forms are available in the office. The cost is $3 per gift bag. Rubber ducky gift bags will be delivered to Pre-K through 12th grade classrooms on October 28th and 29th. All profits from this fundraiser will be donated to the Doniphan County Pet Rescue. FCA has yellow, white or blue trash bags. They are only $10/roll and we have them in stock – no waiting!!! Mrs. Gove's 4th graders are hard at work writing letters to our servicemen. Each student was paired with a newly enlisted soldier stationed at Fort Benning, GA. We're hoping to gain lasting Pen Pals while working on our letter writing skills.
