Riverside Physics Students Research, Design and Build Bridges
The Riverside Physics class designs and builds different projects throughout the year to challenge students to go beyond what is learned in the textbook and use their learning in practical and real world ways. This particular project is based on a project by the Society of Professional Engineers and challenges students to design a bridge to hold at least 50 pounds using only 150 popsicle sticks or less and a hot glue gun. They have 3 class periods to study bridges, design and build their own and are graded on aesthetics, design and functionality. The top bridges well exceeded the minimum weight and one even was able to support the weight of a student. When finished, students were asked to write a short reflection and analysis of their project.
Pictures attached: Broc Studer places the finishing weights on his bridge; another bridge is shown holding a large load; and Hayden Daugherty stands on one of the top bridge designs.

The Riverside High School Graphic Design students participated in the 2022 Albrecht-Kemper Museum of Art Regional High School Art Exhibition.
